Adromischus caryophyllaceus is a highly variable species. This clone was collected in Robertson, in the Western Cape and recorded as CG62.

According http://plants.jstor.org, in this species "The leaves vary markedly in shape and size and the colour of the flowers also often varies from one locality to the other. Found in the Cape Province, mainly associated with the Langeberg range from near Robertson to near Mosselbaai; often associated with rock outcrops but rarely in exposed positions.
