Rubus x 'Tayberry'

Rubus Tayberry (Rubus fruticosus x R. idaeus) is a cultivated shrub in the genus Rubus of the family Rosaceae patented in 1979 as a cross between a blackberry and a red raspberry, and named after the river Tay in Scotland.

The fruit is sweeter, much larger, and more aromatic than that of the loganberry, itself a blackberry and red raspberry cross.

Rubus x 'Tayberry' (Rubus fruticosus x Rubus idaeus) is a hybrid shrub in the genus Rubus of the family Rosaceae. patented in 1979 as a cross between a blackberry and a red raspberry, and named after the river Tay in Scotland. This plant is very productive and easy to grow. In fully mature plants, the stems can reach 2 m or more (but they can be kept low too). The good and bad news about the Tayberry is that its stems are very weak and need to be guided on sticks or wires. So you can shape the shrub the way you want, as a shrub or a creeper or a climber or even make a pergola with it.

We ship a robust, sun-grown plant, cultivated in a 14 cm pot, of variable height of 30-60 cm. This is a fast growing species and it is produced once or twice a year so the specimens can come in different sizes. We will always try to select a compact robust plant for you.  We ship worldwide.
