Succulents or "fat plants" are water-retaining species, adapted to dry conditions. They store succum (juice, water) in their leaves, stems or roots, and often show a stout and fleshy appearance.

Low shrub native to coastal eastern Australia, with white to pale-lilac flowers. It is very tough and grows on cliffs right next to the ocean. The neatly whorled leaves and all-year flowering make it very popular in cultivation. Frost tolerance, once established to about -5 C.

Foxtail palm is a beauty with ruffled leaves. Native to exposed gravel hill tops on Cape Melville, in NE Australia. This palm has a solitary, smooth, grey-brown trunk, a remarkable crownshaft and plumose, ruffled dark-green leaves. It was discovered in 1983 and it soon became very popular!

It is a cross between the tropical Cryptanthus bahianus and the frost-hardy Billbergia nutans, so it is a cold-proof Cryptanthus-like plant, good for terrariums!
Pack of three cuttings. This compact succulent spreads slowly, rooting occasionally along stems. Leaf colour is jade-purple to chocolate. It is mat-forming so it is excellent in desert beds or in a potted combination of succulent plants.
