Mid size Aechmea with slender, tubular pale green rosettes, bearing a a pink "spray" inflorescence with pink bracts and purple flowers. Pups have much thinner leaves and they grow much wider as they approach flowering size. Aechmea purpureorosea is native to eastern Brazil, found in rainforests of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro mostly epiphytic and sometimes terrestrial.
