Archontophoenix maxima

Very elegant palm from Australia, with slender ringet trunk, topped by a showy bright green crownshaft. Leaves are glossy green with a mild silvery shine underneath and the segments droop It is similar to the more widespread Archontophoenix alexandrae, but noticeably stouter. The trunk is wider and petioles are shorter.It is easy to grow and can takre frosts to about -2 C. It can be tried outside in the coastal Mediterranean.
