Doryanthes palmeri, known as giant spear lily, is one of only two species of plant in the genus Doryanthes, both endemic to eastern Australia.
It grows as a moncarpic rosette like an agave, but has floppy spineless leaves up to 2 or 3 m long. It will eventually bloom with a bright red flowering structure, up to 3 to 5 meters tall.
