This mhyrr grows as a shrub to small tree. Its flaking bark has an uncommon grey-blue colour, while its young branches are dark brown. Commiphora holtziana can also become a nice bonsai, because of its gnarled growth and colour contrast. Its resin is used in Somalia as a dye, but also as a medicine. It is known in the trade as "opoponax gum" or "gum haggar", which is also used for perfumes.

This material was originally collected in Sagalla, Kenya. We offer two years old seedlings.
