This species is smaller than other livistona, with glossy drooping segments, reminiscent of the more common, and much larger, Livistona decora. As it grows taller, it keeps for decades the rounded stubs of the old fallen leafs. taking an unusual, exotic appearance, with its "dinosaur trunk". Despite its tropical origin, it grows easily in colder or drier climates, as many other livistonas, and can be tried outdoors in the coastal Mediterranean.
