'Tossed Salad', a bromeliad with very glossy rounded leaves

This hybrid was developed by Bullis, H. in 1981. The seed parent was 'Dexter's Pride' and the pollen parent was 'Fantastic Gardens'.

Neoregelia x Tossed Salad has very glossy leaves,  rounded, red-tipped. As it blooms, a coral-pink flush appears on the apple-green rosette. It is a strong, easy grower. Plants tolerate some sun and some shade; pups are often stout.

According to the Broemeliad Cultivar Register it is a "cv. of 'Dexter's Pride' X 'Fantastic Gardens' - (See Isabel) - (Other cvs. = 'Bailey', 'Buckingham', 'Chardonnay', 'Las Vegas' & 'Marsala') - Large broad 3.5" wide leafed rosette in medium bright green spotted w/darker green, red and purple resembling a tossed salad - blackish-purple tips w/color extending along leaf edges several inches from tips - 30+ leaves - purple center at blooming - 12" tall x 22" across.".
