Popular clumping palm in tropical and suptropical countries. Ptychosperma macarthurii is native to NE Australia and New Guinea. The MacArthur Palm produces a dense cluster of slender cane-like trunks, each with a small crown of light green, pinnate leaves. It is ideally suited for the smaller garden, and will also do well as a potted plant indoors if it gets bright light. It does better in warm conditions but it can live outdoors in warmer Mediterranean countries if given some protection.
