Odd and beautiful ornamental shrub producing abundant blooms directly on the stem. This hard-to-find ornamental is a choichy classic of tropical and subtropical gardening, bringing the most exotic feeling of South American rainforests to patios, entrances, greenhouses and conservatories, It slowly grows one or few erect stems, topped with bold green foliage. All trunks are covered for many months a year with beautiful flowers, where the pale pink calyx, veined in dark pink, is the ornamental part. Pavonia strictiflora was formerly colled Goethea and so some people still use this as a common name.
