A beauty of nature! This tall, elegant veitchia palm is native to to Fiji, and Tonga Islands. It is fast, beautiful, elegant, plumose, with showy red fruits.
It is an exotic, slender pinnate palm, native to the rainforests of Fiji, in Melanesia. Veitchia joannis has a smooth, ringed gray trunk; a long green crownshaft with silvery and brown indument; and large, arching dark-green leaves with drooping segments. Beautiful coral-like white inflorescences can be produced at any time of the year, followed by large decorative red fruits. It grows fast in moist rich soils. This elegant palm from fiji has some tolerance to cold. Mature specimens grow and flower in warm Mediterranean climates, such as Southern Spain and Sicily as it takes long cool winters and the occasional short, light frosts. Of course, it does better in tropical or subtropical conditions. has been tested in the warmer Mediterranena and it turned out to be quite hardy to light, short frost.Cultivation | Protected |
