Crinum asiaticum xanthophyllum

Striking ornamental from Melanesia. This golden-leaved selection of Crinum asiaticum is reproduced vegetatively since Europeans reached the SW Pacific, where it was already used as an ornamental by natives. Plant it in full sun on a green backdrop, to enhance the golden colour. It is both spelled xanthophyllum and zanthophyllum.

Just like other forms of Crinum asiaticum, this Crinum is evergreen and its elongated bulb is not a true bulb, it is rather a pseudostem. Give full sun and waster throughout the year.
