Kalanchoe beauverdii is a succulent scrambling climber with gray wiry stems. Leaves are purple-black in high light. Nice hanging gray-green flowers with purple speckles, hold in clusters, native to south and southwestern Madagascar, in dry shrublands forests distributed from sea level up to about 800 m.

Kalanchoe beauverdii is a succulent scrambling climber with gray wiry stems. Leaves are purple-black in high light, held in widely spaced opposite pairs alternating 90 degrees from the last pair.  Nice hanging gray-green flowers with purple speckles are hold in clusters, during the cooler months.

Kalanchoe beauverdii is native to south and southwestern Madagascar where it inhabits dry shrublands forests distributed from sea level up to about 800 m. One common synonym is Bryophyllum beauverdii. It does not really have a common name, but some people use the common name Beauverd's Widow's-thrill.

Cultivation of Kalanchoe beauverdii

It  is just too easy to reproduce, because it grows new plantlets at the tip of the leaves. Grow in full sun or bright shade. It generally likes it warm with dry cool frost-free winters. This is an extremely interesting plant and while one would not call it beautiful, it is so unusual that it is sure to attract attention.
