This is a "shrubby philodendron" with dense, stiff growth. It takes high light and even direct sun and wind. Stems are all erect and branch freely, leaves are thick and leathery and arranged flat. It is often used in tropical gardening as a tall ground cover or a shrub in the mixed border, where it is trimmed back once or twice a year. It is probably a wild species that has never been described officially and it is still lacking a latin name, this is why it is listed as 'Burle Marx' or sp. 'Burle Marx' and not as Philodendron burlemarxii.
