Variegate Pflanzen haben gestreifte oder gepunktete Blätter mit attraktiven Farben. Variegation bei Pflanzen treten aufgrund verschiedenster Gründe auf. Meistens ist es ein genetischer Fehler, der zufällig in der Natur auftritt. Eine weiße Variegation ist das Ergebnis der Unfähigkeit einer Pflanze Pigmente in dieser Region zu produzieren. Eien geringere Produktion des Pigments Chlorophyll ermöglicht die Ausbildung von orangen, gelben und hellgrüen Farben oder sogar Schattierungen von rosa, rot und lila. Diese Pflanzen sind langsamer als ihre grünen Verwanten und meistens teurer. Wir bieten variegate Agaven, variegate Aspidistras, variegate Bromelien und viele variegate Sukkulenten an.

Aechmea ornata is hardy to some good frost, to at least -7 C. This variety Hoehneana has minor differences in the inflorescence but our plants are truly dwarf, with a mottled pale green colour, often with a pink hue on the tips.
This variegated clone is just as frost hardy as the wild species but its colour pattern is hypnotic! It is full of perfect yellow stripes, often wider at the center of each leaf. Very squat, compact form of the super hardy Aechmea ornata. Rosettes are wider than tall. Furthermore their colour is quite attractive, with a mottled pale green colour, often with a pink hue on the tips.
This is a "wow hybrid" with white-marginated wide leaves and a long lasting bright bloom. Aechmea x 'Friederike' is a cross of : Aechmea chantinii x Aechmea fasciata, mutated through in vitro cultivation, developed at Corn. Bak nurseries in Holland and released in 1984.
