Semi-evergreen species and a rather bulky bulb, bearing swollen red flowers, often leaning all on a side, very uncommon in cultivation. Cyrtanthus labiatus is a rare and localized species, restricted to three unaccessible populations in the Cape: in the Klein Swartberg, Groot Swartberg and Baviaanskloof mountains, always found on shaded ledges on vertical cliff faces. In cultivation, it prefers some shade and it is induced to rest if exposed to hot summer sun. It is genetically related to Cyrtanthus montanus. Both species form bulbils beneath the tunics.
We offer one Bulb, 2-3 cm diameter. This clone is originally from the population of Baviaanskloof.
