Distinct cool-hardy banana from mountain regions of NE India.
Nuevo
It is sweet and aromatic, therefore its common name means "chini = sugar" and "champa = fragrance of magnolias". It is especially popular and sought after in the cool hills of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts, up in the North of West Bengal, at the foothills of Himalaya. The plant becomes shorter in cooler or drier areas, but keeps on setting good fruits.
We ship a stout rooted sucker, not a potted plant. You will receive it with the corm wrapped in a bag with moist sphagnum or perlite.
In spring, suckers may not have roots. In this case, suckers are easy to root if temperatures are kept between 20 and 30 C.
