Pelargonium sidoides

Pelargonium sidoides is  a low growing Pelargonium with round wrinkled glaucous leaves. It leaves unusually dark purple-black flowers. Each plant grows one or more underground tubers that grow through the years and can be exposed as a caudex. It is a well-known medicinal plant of southern Africa. Pelargonium sidoides root extract is traditionally used by Zulu tribes for the common cold and influenza and it is studied each day more as a medicinal species.
