About Pitahaya or Dragon Fruit in general

is a climbing cactus with excellent fruits, native to the American continent. This fruit has been used since ancient times before the Spanish colonization by American natives. Known as "pitahaya" in the Antilles where the Spanish first saw it and spread it to other regions. Climbing stems are green, with 2 - 4 ribs with slightly undulating spiny margins. It bears fruits of red flesh and the skin varies from pink to red, according to the species or cultivar. Fruits are appreciated by their refreshing properties and some are very sweet. They have excellent digestive properties and contain red pigments from the betalain group with antioxidant properties.

We offer a rooted plant of 18-35 cm cm. Pitahaya needs a pollinating mate of a different Hylocereus species, in order to fruit properly. Canarius offers other Pitahaya species.
