"Self-pollinating" cultivar with large oval shaped fruit up to 700g in weight, with a skin which is at first light green with pinkish shades which darken to pinkish red as the fruit ripens. The flesh is dark purple colour with many small dark edible seeds. The taste of this variety is described as very peculiar and pleasant to the palate. This variety is often mentioned as a selection of Hylocereus guatemalensis, however this species is considered synonymous with Hylocereus undatus. Condor Dragon Fruit comes from the genus Hylocereus and the species guatemalensis. This fruit is considered to be one of the better tasting varieties at the Pitaya Festival held in Southern California. This variety is a cross between a Nicaraguan and Guatemalan Pitahaya. Spicy Exotics collected this variety from a grower in California.

Cuttings adapt and grow quickly under ideal conditions. Growth is three-sided with small thorns that are very typical looking of Hylocereus guatemalensis. Single cuttings have reached over six feet growing just one summer. Due to this aggressive growth, heavy pruning is recommended. The flowers of Condor are very similar to other H. guatemalensis varieties with a white and yellow appearance. A generous size flower at 14 inches is also self-fertile.

The fruit is large with bright purple flesh. The exterior skin is light green and pink hues with the green turning pinkish-red as the bright purple flesh becomes ripe. Weighing 1 to 1.5 pounds, the fruit also matches its appearance with flavor and sweetness with an average brix rating of 19.
