This climber from the Kiwi family has everything to like! In the spring, its perfumed flowering will aromatize your garden. There is an abundant production of small fruits, (Baby Kiwis, Small Kiwis, Kiwiños), with smooth skin and sweet flesh. These small fruits that we can harvest in autumn, contain the same vitamin C, that its great " cousin " the kiwi. Finally, in this species, being self-fertilizing, even an isolated foot will be able to produce fruits.
Plant the kiwiño at the foot of a grate, or along a wall on which you will have placed a trellis, preferably in an area of passage to take advantage of its spring scent and its autumn fruits.

Here in Canarius we offer a potted plant, grown in peatmoss or coconut fiber.

What do we ship?

Here in Canarius we offer a 0,7 - 2 m tall grafted tree, grown in a certified nursery. Temperate trees will be shipped bare rooted during the coldest months. Some trees are small enought to fit in the box. Some are too tall, so they will be pruned before shipping to a height of 80-100. Don't be scared by this pruning because your trees will soon come back as they are all very vigorous specimens.

Temperate trees from the Canary Islands?

The Canary Islands are located in the subtropical belt, but the term subtropical really makes sense only for the areas at low altitude. If we give a look to mid or high elevations, we will find a Mediterranean to Temperate climate, with possible snowfalls in winter above 1200 m elevation. Therefore, temperate fruits and berries, like apples or raspberries, can grow quite well in this land of mangos and bananas. Some local traditional cultivars of temperate trees are only found in the Canaries, such as many fig trees, peaches, apricots and more. Some of these are low-chill varieties, that require less cold for their growth. They can take hard frost such as their relatives but they can still set good fruits in Mediterranean to Subtropical areas.
