Ornamental creeping plant with funnel-shaped rosettes producing tall spikes of cream-white flowers. It is a semi-succulent, said to have medicinal properties.

This species has a shape reminiscent of bromeliads and often traps water in the bottom of the funnel. It also resembles its relative Rhoeo spathacea.

It can be grown in baskets, simple pots or as a ground cover.
