Popular tropical palm with smooth grey ringed trunk, a robust grey-green crownshaft, and stiffly ascending, pinnate leaves. It is native to Rodriguez, in the Mascarene Islands and it is Critically Endangered in the wild, while it is commonly cultivated in tropical countries. Hyophorbe verschaffeltii is easy and fast but it is damaged by frost. Makes an excellent indoor plant for a bright room.
