"Osage orange" is a deciduous tree from North America, producing unusual, large green fruits. These are unedible yet very exotic-looking and ornamental and resemble the fruits of the breadfruit tree, Artocarpus altilis. Maclura, in fact, is in the same family of breadfruits and figs too. It is easy and adaptable: it takes hard frosts in temperate areas and also thrives in the Mediterranean and even grows in subtropical conditions.
