Prithchardia remota comes from a very harsh island in Hawaii and it is possibly the best for mediterranean conditions. This year we have spotted a few variegated Pritchardias in a batch of P. remota. We allowed the best ones to reach a nice size in a 20 cm pot, so we can be sure that the variegation is not a deficiency or a juvenile thing. Variegated palms, with a few exceptions, are very rare plants , because they are difficult to reproduce by seeds as most of its descendants grow up as plain greens or albinos.
