Solanum quitoense - Lulo

Elegant, impressive shrub, 1-1,5 m tall, with edible fruits and huge velvety leaves. Leaves are up to 50 cm wide, dark green with purple fuzz, with little flexible spines. Lulo originated in the Andes at high elevation where it is grown as an exotic fruits. It is fast growing and likes cool conditions of 10-25 C but it is frost sensitive.

What do we ship?

Solanum quitoense is an early blooming species and our plants will set fruits in a few months. Continued production can be expected for three to four years, before the plants begin to decline. We offer 40-60 cm tall plants. We might need to reduce the size of the largest leaves, so you may receive a plant with some cuts, but it is fast growing so it will soon produce fresh new leaves.
